How to create a Whaddado

Step 1: Think of something good to add

Step 2: Add it to Whaddado

Use any of the following methods to add your idea for something good to do and share it with the Whaddado community.

  • SEARCH

    Search to see if someone has already added it. If they haven’t, Whaddado will search Google for you and find a matching webpage. Click on the most relevant search result.

  • BOOKMARKLET

    Our bookmarklet allows you to add content to Whaddado from any page on the web. Click here to add it now.

  • BUTTON

    There’s an ‘Add a Whaddado’ button up there on our navigation, click it to add something good to do. You may also see our button on someone else’s website next to something good to do. If you do see it, give it a click.

Step 3: Check the info Whaddado gathers from the webpage

This is where Whaddado gets to work, but it needs your help to check the information that it finds. If you take the time to correct any errors and make sure the title is accurate, the Whaddado is more likely to find relevant pictures, videos, reviews and maps for your event or activity.

So here’s what happens:

  1. Whaddado opens the selected web page and drops down a side bar. Sign in if you’re not already.
  2. Whaddado scans the webpage for images, location and description. Check the info found to make sure it’s correct. The title and the venue are the most important.
  3. Click Save and The Whaddado Page will be built immediately, complete with pictures, videos, maps, reviews and even the weather.
  4. You are then given the option to add this page to one of your lists to share it with friends and the community.

Sending ideas to your Ideas Box:

The Idea Box can be found under ‘My Whaddado’. It’s a place for storing text notes for things to do. Perhaps you’re out and about and someone tells you of a great restaurant, a movie, a book or a hotel. You can send it into Whaddado and next time you’re online get Whaddado to find out more about it for you.

To get started: Go to the ‘Settings Page’ and click on the ‘Share’ button to scroll to the bottom of the page. Here you will see instructions for how to add your cell / mobile phone number to Whaddado and how to link your Twitter account if you haven’t already.

NOTE: We do want to make it clear that your privacy is very important to us and your phone number will never be used to send you unsolicited messages and will be held in the strictest confidence. Text messages are charged at your standard rate. For now, the number to text into is United Kingdom only.

  • Having added your cell / mobile number as explained above, simply text your ideas for things to do to: 0778 14821 2100.

  • Link your Twitter account as explained above, then on any Tweet you send in which you write of something good to do, just add the #whaddatweet

How to get recommendations and share ideas for things to do

Whaddado is all about sharing your knowledge for great things to do. Whaddado does a lot of the hard work in researching all the ideas people submit ,so all you need to do is browse around and enjoy some of the great content other’s have added. Here are some of the ways you can find things to do:

RECOMMENDATIONS:

By going to the ‘Recommendations’ section, you’ll see that Whaddado has handpicked some ideas for things to do that it thinks might interest you. These handpicked ‘Whaddado’s are picked from all the content others have added to Whaddado and filtered according to your stated interests and your locations.

FOLLOW PEOPLE:

Whaddado let’s you see what other people are adding to their own lists. If you choose to Follow someone, then it’s easier to find that person’s lists and get alerted to new things that might be of interest to you. To follow someone, simply click the follow button next to their name. Lists you follow can be found in the My Whaddado section.

DISCOVER:

Our ‘Discover’ page lets you see what people are adding right now so you can browse around and learn of new stuff to do. We’ve got lots of plans for this section to make it easy to find things that interest you, so keep popping back.

SEARCH:

I’m sure you can’t have missed the big blue search box. Type in whatever you’re looking to do and Whaddado will search to see if it’s already added to the site and if not it’ll find matches from other websites and give you the opportunity to bookmark the page and add the content to Whaddado yourself.
